In addition to flags and signs, the organizers are asking people to bring bags (burlap bags, 50lb rice bags, etc) filled with bubble wrap and marked TEA. There are several speakers and performers lined up, and 1280 AM will be covering the festivities. My kiddos will be out there, and I’m going to try and pop in between classes. . .

Now a Lakewood Ranch Tea Party?

Schweet. It looks like Lakewood Ranch (east Bradenton, FL) may be joining the Tea Party movement. The sec’y of the Manatee County Republican Party contacted me today. According to her, they’ll be closing down “Main Street” on April 15th for a time so we can have a tea party. I’m calling the local tea party POC tomorrow.

If this is accurate, which it seems to be, I’ll post up the details tomorrow.

Obama poll numbers still trending south

Zogby’s latest numbers on Obama are pretty stark — 50-50% approve/disapprove. It’s usually best to take Zogby polls with an entire salt lick, but he usually gets the general trendline correct. Though I doubt half of America has truly broken free of Obama’s mesmerizing BS, I do think he’s losing Obamacan and independent support. For Obamacans, it’s the realization that his lovely “temperament” is no substitute for conservative principles. Independents just want jobs and increasingly question his competence.

Zogby’s poll is still an outlier, but the latest poll from Rasmussen is pretty stark as well — only 56% approval. In fact, counting Zogby, 5 out of the last 10 polls all placed Obama under 60%.

Worse for Obama, unemployment figures usually turn around LATE in a recovery, as Ed Morrissey rightly points out. Even under best case scenarios, Obama’s numbers will continue to suffer for many months to come.

Do I want Obama to fail? No. I want him to wake up to the destruction he’s inflicting on our way of life. Barring such a change of heart, however, I’ll settle for failure. Better one man fail than our nation be turned into a Nanny State.

Matt Drudge = undead HP Lovecraft?

Check out the uncanny similarities between Drudgereport editor Matt Drudge and HP Lovecraft, the morbid creator of the Cthulhu Mythos:

Normally when confronted with separated twins, we assume something simple, such as a plot to conceal one of them, likely behind an iron mask. But HP Lovecraft was a freaky dude, and he died back in 1937. This inclines me to slightly more exotic theories. Terms like revenant, zombie, vampire and Mayor of Sunnydale spring to mind.

Steve Huff, the man who made this discovery, has a theory of his own:

“He had returned to earth to wreak even greater Evil, and this time he had the mark of Yog-Sothoth and the whispering tongues of Cthulhu to guide him. This is why he wears that fedora: it conceals the glowing, swirling tattoos, and when removed, they come alive and shout, ‘IA, IA, CTHULHU FTHAGN…’”
