Started reading one night. Finished the next morning before noon. Great battle sequences and well developed characters with a Christian slant. If characters with faith don’t bother you, then any hard SciFi fan would enjoy this book.
Thanks for the review, Neil!
This was good military science fiction. The combat was well done and the action was reasonable. The christian religious philosophy was well thought out and fit into the story line especially as they were fighting an islam-type religion.
If you are totally against Christianity in your fiction then this is not for you. If you like [...]

The worldbuilding is fantastic, really is an escape from real life. A complex world, very intesting and well created. I never felt lost as the story progressed, this is a book that rocks from start to finish.
Thank you, Rafe — so glad you enjoyed it!
Like another reviewer I saw, I am a long-time reader of science fiction, especially Baen’s webscriptions. I’m also a Christian, and some-time reader of christian fiction. Unfortunately, plenty of Christian fiction is just (a) not as well written as the comparable secular work available and (b) full of cruddy American pop theology (which as a [...]
J. Wesley Bush has struck a difficult balance in this novel.
First of all, Knox’s Irregulars is just a good story. I read widely, and rarely in the realm of “Christian Fiction,” and there is nothing better than a story that keeps you up late into the night flipping pages. This is that kind of book.
Second, [...]

“Some would consider the pairing of “Christian” with “Sci-Fi” to be a contradiction in terms. Like Aubrey Hansen’s Red Rain, this book proves them dead wrong.
…
I can count on one hand the modern novels I’ve read that smoothly incorporate Christianity into the storyline. Most fail for one of two reasons: either the author hasn’t a [...]
I’m a long (LONG) time Baen Books reader and I damn near cut my teeth on David Drake’s Hammer’s Slammers series, so I’ve been reading military science fiction since the ‘good old days’. Knox’s Irregulars is a worth addition to the genre, not just because of the solid military action but because of the [...]
“I will admit, when I first started reading Bush’s book I was afraid it would be a ripoff of my favorite sci-fi novel of all time, Robert Heinlein’s “Starship Troopers”. I was - very - pleasantly surprised to find the story well thought out, very engaging and with an attention to technical detail that didn’t [...]
