I found this book to be quite enjoyable. The story reminds me of Robert A Heinlein’s book, “Revolt in 2100.”

I did start to read it quite tentatively based upon the negative reviews indicating that it was a religious polemic. In fact, it is not. Apparently some reviewers did not understand the central premise that both sides of the issue were strongly religious. The attackers seem to be coming from an Islamic base and their conduct aligned with that tradition. The defenders were coming from a Christian base and consistent with that tradition. It would be ludicrous to expect a person raised within a strong religious tradition not to have moments of recrimination after combat. If you read any actual biographies of those who have faced combat, you will notice that there are moments when you really hope that God is on your side and there are other moments where you wonder whether your decisions were the right ones.

Glad you enjoyed the book, Richard Bush (no relation!)

I have to admit that this was the first of this sort of literary genre that I have read - futuristic military-techno fiction. Reading mostly theology and philosophical books day in and day out, my recreational reading happens to be fiction and this read was not a disappointment.

The characters were well developed. The battle descriptions were vivid. The reader is transported into the 25th Century where everything has changed and nothing has changed. Nations are still fighting against nations. People are still struggling with questions of ultimate reality, good and evil, right and wrong.

It is said in the book that “The universe was the ‘theatre of God’s glory’ . . . ” (p 171 Kindle edition) and it’s obvious that throughout this book, the author takes this to heart as he deals with man’s struggle to find purpose in life while at the same time developing an intriguing plot, depth of characters mixed with romance and intrigue on an intergalactic scale and he does all this without compromising his own convictions, giving the reader a ‘clean’, but not antiseptic reading experience devoid of all the graphic sex, gratuitous violence, and vain language that is found in so much of today’s fiction.

All I can say is, “Give me more, J. Wesley Bush!” as I look forward to the next installment of Knox’s Irregulars!

People say there’s no difference between the religions, but this is bunk. Jesus empowered women, while Islam (literally) effaces them.
